Vampire Weekend: We are happy, well-educated white folk. Vampire Weekend covered the Fleetwood Mac song Everywhere from their 1987 album Tango in the Night for Triple J's Like a Version segment where each week a different artist visits the J's underground bunker to perform a cover and an original song live and usually acoustically. This is a very good example of the many kick-arse things that Triple J does. It is also a very good example of the many kick-arse things that Vampire Weekend does.
Another song that is good in much the same way is The Cat Empire's East. Surprisingly, this track has an eastern feel to it... a middle-eastern feel to be precise. The lyrics contrast Byron Bay with the middle-east and raises concerns about Australia's (former) policy of mandatory detention of asylum seekers arriving by boat. This track could only be found on TCE's Hello single which, for whatever reason was only released in New Zealand. It has a very similar feel to the Vampire Weekend track so fans should have a listen.
