The Presets / Silverchair Connection

Silverchair have had a long and illustrious career and although the great unwashed will tell you that they are overrated and crap, they are actually quite the opposite (underrated and brilliant). Bold and adventurous in their musical journeys, Silverchair have steadily risen to the pinnacle of rockdom in Australia. They have had more number one albums and singles than any other Aussie artist, they've won more ARIA awards than any other artists and have been together as a band for half of their lives... and they're all under 30. Bastards.

Anyway... a less-than well-known fact is that electropunks The Presets have a close connection with Silverchair. Julian Hamilton played live keys for Silverchair for many years (he's too busy these days though) and both Julian and Kim were touring members of The Dissociatives, Daniel Johns' (Silverchair mastermind) electronic side-project with Paul Mac (Silverchair's current live keysman). Predictably, this connection has led to a few remixes...

Silverchair's third #1 single from their fifth #1 album was given The Presets treatment and it is fine. Another underpublicised fact is that Julian Hamilton co-wrote this song which won the 2007 ARIA for Single of the Year as well as being named APRA's Song of the Year.
