Those familiar with The Golden Filter will know that they are a wee bit mysterious, that's cool.. I like to think of myself as a wee bit mysterious myself. We do know however that they are full of awesome... disco-synth type awesome. They name their inspirations as Film, Photography, Tarot Cards, Australia, Nature, Thrift Store finds, Animals, Disco, Love, Desperation, Trees, Folk Music, New York City, Old Vinyl. Notice the Australia reference in there? Penelope, the lead singer, grew up in Byron Bay, New South Wales, one of the coolest places on Earth. The first time I saw actual, real-life boobies was in Byron Bay. Need I say anymore about it? No. Back to TGF then... All of the songs they've done include the exact same arpeggio preset, which is kind of uncreative, well maybe not 'uncreative' but... I don't know. Don't get me wrong, it's all good. It gives them an instantly recognisable sound, the moment you hear that arp you know it's a TGF track and that's a brilliant way to create buzz. I applaud them for it really, clever marketing ploy. That all sounds really negative but give 'em a listen... it really is irresistible. Anyway, here's some tunes: The Golden Filter - Solid Gold |
