Van She are Rad

Van She are from Sydney, Australia. They formed in 2005 when all four members independently responded to an advertisement seeking a vocalist for a doom metal band. Sounds like bullshit to me... either way, they kick arse. For some reason unbeknown to me, they call themselves Van She Tech when they do remixes. Take their remix of Feist's 1234 for example. Despite the strange naming thing, their remixes are particularly good and this is one of their best.

French dream-popsters, M83 have produced a spectacular remix of Kelly. It's a beautiful, sprawling epic version that I can't get enough of. Go forth and download.

The BPA - Toe Jam (Vivada remix)

Here's my remix of The BPA's Toe Jam. The BPA (Brighton Port Authority) is a Norman Cook (A.K.A. Fatboy Slim) project which features stacks o' guest appearances, this track has Talking Heads' frontman, David Byrne being all crazy and stuff and Dizzee Rascal doing his pom-rap thing. Heaps cool! I had lots o' fun doing this and I'm quite happy with the result. It's a bit rough but that's in keeping with the lo-fi, garage rock sound that I decided on. Enjoy. Or not. Whatever.

Are Mystery Jets Stalkers?

A few fun facts about Mystery Jets:
Scary Bloke: I think I'm in love with the girl who lives two doors down.Scary Bloke: I think I'm in love with the girl who lives two doors down.
1. They're from Eel Pie Island.
2. Lead singer, Blaine Harrison's dad, Henry, is also a member of the band (although he no longer tours with them).
3. They once organised and performed at a Syd Barrett tribute show.
3. Legendary Aussie producer, Nick Launay, mixed their second album, 21.
4. Their second album, 21, is a really good album.

Hand Me Down has been stuck in my head for a couple of weeks now and it's only just starting to irritate me. The Justice remix is of a track from Mystery Jets first album. It's quite good, which from Justice is no surprise. The Duke Dumont remix of Two Doors Down is an interesting one. It's dark, brooding, hypnotic, the vocals have been completely omitted and it completely scares the buggery out of me. Think about it... a cheesy song about having a crush on a stranger, made by a bunch of clean-cut lads with nice hair. It all seems pretty harmless. Now imagine if that same song was written by the crazy dude in the picture...
